After many years of inventing, planning and making, our unique, sparkling accessory is being presented for sale.

Since 2000 we have been working together to create a process that will allow for printing precious metals onto cloth: a process that has been sought after for two thousand years. We succeeded in 2002 to invent a metal-printing method that works for bonding metals of all varieties to many kinds of surfaces.

To date, we have found nothing that matches the delicacy of 23 karat gold printed with our special process (patent pending), on hand-loomed Japanese silks from Kiryu. Patterns for printing are composed and developed from hand-made shibori* motifs and natural found objects. After printing, we may set gems into the surface of the cloth; the silk stiffened by gold embraces the semi-precious stones in a bezel-like cup. This textile is then sewn into the cuff you are beholding, leather-backed and finished with 14 karat gold hooks and eyes, or beads and loops, for closures.

This special object of personal adornment integrates the realms of clothing, jewelry and art. It is made entirely by hand. Please wear it with care, as you would your finest article of clothing, or a pair of fine silk shoes. Care should be taken to not repeatedly rub the surface, such as with clothing or hands, since the gold surface is a thin layer printed on silk. When worn, over time, the surface will take on a patina of experience. The bracelet will conform to the arm shape of the individual wearer, and because it is leather and silk should not be exposed to water or oils. We guarantee our 14 karat gold closures and will replace them should one come loose. (This would be a rare occurrence since they are sewn in with great care with Kevlar thread). * The Japanese word "shibori" means to compress, or to squeeze. Shibori is a 1400-year-old Japanese shaped-resist dyeing process whereby cloth is shaped by stitching, folding, wrapping or pleating, and bound into those shapes by tying or clamping. Once dyed, the cloth then visually registers the shape it was in before it is returned to flat form.
